Antiques Appraisals

Every once in awhile, I shoot at Old Sturbridge Village for a variety of things.  The other day they had a special antiques appraisal event, and Stephen Fletcher from Skinner, inc, was on hand to talk about 20 different items that people brought in.  Lighting wise, it was a challenging shoot...I used 2 cameras, one with my 50mm 1.4 lens for available light shooting, and one with a strobe setup.  Overall I think it worked pretty well!
Many of the items came with handwritten information about their history.
The room was packed with people that had brought items, or were simply there to observe.

There was a wonderful old map of Massachusetts brought in, but it was too tattered to unfurl comletely.

 An old card table.

Apparently bureaus are in a category of their own, and Stephen came prepared with a flashlight to look for clues about its origins.  They took all of the drawers out and turned this one on its side.  It was estimated to be worth $8,000 to $10,000.
